The Australian Embassy in Washington website states quite clearly that they reject 90% of all passport photos. The reason is that Australia has different size requirements for their photos, which most passport photo vendors in the United States do not support. Having Australian citizenship and having to renew your passport every 10 years is definitely a Good Problem To Have on balance, but it is also nerve-racking due to unnecessary bureaucracy! For this reason, even though I am proficient photographer in the darkroom, and in photoshop, I chose this decade to use PassportPhotoNow.com since getting the exact right sized passport photo for any country is their expertise. In the process of gathering my documents and filling out my form, the photo was the only thing that I did not have to worry about.
