A couple of days ago I was screwing around with my old digital camera (the DimageX) and took this photo of myself.
4:30pm yesterday I was at work not at all happy about the fact that it was sunny outside and that it was going to rain all weekend. Instead of cry about it, I cut out of work early and climbed breakneck so that I could enjoy and do the outdoor thing before the weather turned ugly. Now, I can hear you saying "Graham, you go hike Breakneck
everyday it seems. You could just repost the same entry everyday and achieve more or less the same effect as you do my reporting it here." So I am going to make two observations which are unique to this particular hike:
- I jumped off this railing and landed on my foot at the wrong angle and hurt my ankle a the very beginning of the trail. Undaunted I shook my head and continued.
- In January a hiker went missing on the very same trail and for some reason the past two times I climbed Breakneck this year it didn't cross my mind. This time I did the hike alone and I started thinking about it coming down the backside and it was kind of creeping me out.
When I got home from Breakneck Ridge, my foot was hurting bad, which surprised me because it didn't really bother me on the trail itself.
Today I got up and did the laundry and then drove up to Dutchess where I asked Sarah to photograph me for a website that I am working on. Here are a couple of test shots she took with my new digital camera:
Then I met Joe and Cicely at the movie theater where we saw
Sin City, which I will probably write about in a bit. Dinner was at this place that I had never been to before called Ümani café
® (incidentally I am learning my HTML ampersand character codes). It was good food. Cicely said that she was feeling old because she can remember a time when they just played music before a movie. I feel old because my last birthday in the 20s is this year and because I keep composing sentences in my head which use the word
lamenting. It's silly though, because I'm not at all old and anyway, you are only as young as you feel.
I was looking at the Australian notes that I had brought back with me in February and I noticed that the $5 bills no longer have the Queen on them
It's funny because it is the sort of thing which I used to always notice. I was passing these polymer notes for a month and never really looked at them closely.

I also took a picture of my home because lately I have been feeling awfully affectionate with the place. Funny that I choose to photograph the lounge, because I have been practically living in the computer room lately.
I was on my feet all day. I didn't get to sit and chill until I got home at 9pm.

this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/onehundredways/26617.html) is the only time someone else's studio photographs of me didn't completely make me want to cry myself to sleep. although they're shitty 4x5 polaroids.

Date: 2005-04-02 11:25 pm (UTC)Before they switched to Polymer notes they had Kingsford Smith on the $20, and I am disappointed that they took him off because he was a way more impressive aviator than Lindbergh.
It is kind of arty money. I used to get a thrill out of looking at the notes when I visited Australia when I was younger.
