Mum is in town for the holiday and we went to the Peruvian place in town on Friday for din dins. On the way back I could see these emergency vehicles in the distance flashing their lights and driving slowly. Is this a motorcade to protect the President? I thought. Not in this town for sure. I waited at the corner to see what was coming. Mum and Lena turned the corner, but when they saw me watching they came back. As the vehicles came closer I could identify them as coming from the fire department. The fire car in front further slowed and activated its alarm. In the middle of the motorcade was a red fire engine with ladders and a brightly lit sign saying “Happy Holidays” and a jolly santa claus waving and laughing. We waved back and laughed as we watched the motorcade turn down our street and disappear into the distance. Well that is something you don't see every day. This is a different fire engine of course. It is a FDNY engine from when we were in NYC with Lara right before Turkey Day.
