In better news, my sister has come to visit from Australia. Originally my father was also going to come, but for reasons left unexplained it ended up being just my sister. I'm annoyed at my father, but on the other hand, I think this is an opportunity to engage more with my sister for two whole weeks.

She arrived yesterday and we picked her up from Dulles. She says interesting things like “American traffic is fun, because traffic in Canberra is just cars driving slowly, here they actually stop”. Also she surprised us by telling us that she was a vegetarian now, but didn't want to tell us before hand, because she didn't want us to go to any trouble because she will probably (though I am not sure why) have to eat meat in London, where she is headed after visiting us. I really wish she had told me! I am definitely not a vegetarian, but I can definitely do the vegetarian thing for guests! I have some ideas of how to approach this. We already bought the turkey for Thanksgiving though so there is that.
