Boss came back from vacation yesterday. All of a sudden there was a lot more to get done for some reason. We had a pretty good release meeting, which is funny because there is almost nothing in this release. I guess nobody else bothered to do anything while the boss was gone either.

(Actually I had a major database schema change, but I managed to finish that in a half an hour right before the release meeting). (Yay for cramming).

After the meeting I decided to go into the city early and do some street photography before the Perl Nerds meeting. I was looking at my collection of New York City black and whites from the way back time, and I was sad that I didn't have any good black and whites from DC or Sydney. I don't think I took many great ones yesterday, but I have to remind myself that my NYC pickys came from many trips into the city when I lived in New York State. In February we are going to Australia, and I think I am going to dedicate a couple of days in Sydney to black and white street photography too.

The Perl Nerds meeting was in a new place, because Fearless Leader Brock's company had changed location. His new digs are really really nice. I am definitely jealous. I had some cool news for this meeting, as I mentioned earlier FFI::Platypus is going to be in the next version of Debian. Brock seemed genuinely excited/impressed. Most everyone else had to be reminded of what Platypus is. (An advocates work is never done)! Then I got into a micro-argument with someone about whether or not writing fast code matters. I swear if it isn't someone arguing that something isn't fast enough it will be someone arguing that it isn't slow enough.

On the way back to the train station after I noticed a of homeless people sleeping rough. New location different route, new perspective. Doesn't make me feel very good.
