When a pretty good reboot comes along
Jul. 16th, 2016 10:08 pmWe went to Ghostbusters today with Lena and her folks and I really enjoyed it. Any remake or reboot is going to suffer somewhat due to nostalgia and freshness, but I feel like the makers of this film did a good job of making it their own story. I laughed pretty hard through the whole thing. I thought Kate McKinnon as Holtzmann was hilarious. (She was a bit like an even funnier "Dr." Peter Venkman). Chris Hemsworth's Kevin was surprisingly funny. (You don't get to see his full range when he is playing Thor I guess). The cast in general was spot on. The cameos from the original and the dedication at the end to Harold Ramis made it truly feel like an homage rather than a rip off. If you enjoyed the original, or if you just like to laugh definitely go see it. I'd like to see it again before it leaves the theaters and am totally open to a sequel.
