I think it is probably because these were taken on my Nikon FE w/Sensia 100 (the only slide film I can find in Australia), where as most of my photos lately have been digital, and when I used to shoot E-6 it was mostly Velvia and some Provia, which are both much more contrasty.
Most of my grandpa's slides are Kodachrome. I'd love to be able to shoot Kodachrome or Velvia again. Kodachrome is the best for archival purposes of all colour film, it's a pity that it isn't widely available any more. B&H still sells Kodachrome 64, but I am not sure for how long and I'm not sure where you'd take it either, neither Kodak nor A&I will process it any more.
Those were really fun to look at. Sometimes I think it would be really cool to go back in time and take photos of ordinary stuff just 20 or 30 years ago, but then I remember that in 20 or 30 years the photos I am taking now are going to have the same weirdy old timey look. Well. Not the same, but you know.
