I am sort of hoping that there will be some sort of weather disaster on Monday and they will cancel the meeting, but I will be in LA already and have enjoyed my weekend with Tyler. Right now I am going with either blizzard, or lava, but I don't think either is very likely for San Jose in August.

A while ago I was asking a friend of mine not to mention something on The Facebook. I didn't mean the literal The Facebook, just like you don't mean the literal The Kleenex, you mean tissue (but not napkin). He disdainfully retorted that he didn't much use The Facebook. And I was like whatever, lots of people are too cool for the social networking flavour of the month, I mean just don't blab it around or whatever. We friended up on The Google Plus when I was finally able to get an invite.

Just as an aside one of the things I liked a lot about The Facebook was that you could friend up with someone and then immediately ignore them. I think this has to be my favourite feature missing from The Google Plus, because about my favourite thing to do in social networks is to friend people that I do not like (mostly from high school) giving the impression that I care about them and then banish their posts from my view. The Google Circles thing is definitely a lot more sound than The Facebook, but I really need a circle for people that I don't want to see even in my default stream, while at the same time they get the warm fuzzy feeling of being my friend.

(The actual number of people that I feel the need to actively ignore is tiny, and if you are reading this the it almost certainly doesn't include you, because I am pretty sure most of them actually are just fine ignoring me back.)

My friend and his wife then start posting to both The Facebook and The Google Plus about how The Facebook's fine print is so horrendously evil and here are instructions for moving your photos from The Facebook to The Google Plus. To which I say “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”, because lets be honest The Google is certainly no corporate paragon of virtue, and for full disclosure my friends works at Google (although I don't think he works on The Google Plus itself).

Then this morning my friend reposts something from Tom Anderson on his The Google Plus, and I was like wtf Tom Anderson? That is seriously messed up. On closer inspection I checked out Tom's stream on The Google Plus and all of a sudden he's become one of The Google Plus' biggest boosters posting The Google Plus propaganda on his stream. Assuming this is the real Tom Anderson I find it hard to fathom that this is not payola given his shady past.

The e-mail I used with The Google Plus is plicease (at) gmail (dot) com if you want to add me. If you need an invitation I think I can get you one, but you probably already on if you want to be on.
