ljpliceaseThe long weekend was nice and relaxing. I went camping with e and some of her friends. The only Russian words that I now understand are spasibo and Da. Sometimes I heard sentences consisting entirely of just these two words and thus was able to understand entire sentences in Russian!!! I'm not very good at picking up human languages. If e or Theresa could tell me how to write those words in Cyrillic, I would much appreciate it.
At work I am retrofitting an option called "delay summary detail." Those of you who graduated from high school probably recognize "summary detail" as being contradiction or oxymoron. Apparently I am the only one bothered by this.
Also: I am thinking about backtracking to Apache 1.3 at work, because Apache 2.0 seems to be causing me all sorts of grief, and there really isn't anything that 2.0 buys me at the moment. I used to be all bleeding edge when it came to this stuff, now I'm like "I just want this shit to work man."
I am working on two personal projects right now. The first is code named Grendel and is named after the monster Grendel in Beowulf. It is a server side embedded perl scripting language. Part of the project is the Grendel Library which will reduce the amount of tedious HTML I have to write while I am converting my web site from using nasty <FONT> and <CENTER> tags to using CSS. CSS is easier to maintain and more powerful. This is after all the 21st century. Project Grendel also means I can dump all my PHP code, which is good because it is a language that I have never been comfortable working in.
The second project is a new set of style sheets for my web site. I've decided to call this project Hatch after Hatch, New Mexico, the Green Chili Capital of the Universe, and home of the "World's Best Chili Pepper" acording to the BBC World news. When everything is done my web site will look quite different, although all the same content will be there.
