As planed went hiking after work. The weather was somewhat threatening, so not many people showed up. It was actually just Becky and I, and Brad caught up to us at almost the end. We weren't sure if Brad was following us or not, and it looked like rain, so we didn't stick around for too long at the top waiting for him. I was coo-we'ing [1] at various stages knowing that Brad is probably one of a half dozen people who even recognizes the call in the state of New York.

I got home and was looking through some of my old black and white photographs and I came across this one, which I have always liked
which I took on e's birthday two years ago. I always like the contrasts in it, so I scanned it from a 8x10 RC print. My flatbed scanner sucks. To compensate for the dust and crap I scanned it at 600dpi (which for an 8x10 print makes it a 75MB image file) and got PhotoShop to remove the dust for me, knowing that I wouldn't miss the detail lost in the procedure when I reduced it to a web friendly size later. It isn't that huge of a file, but my PC only has a gig of memory and with iTunes, AFS, Thunderbird, Firefox and god knows what else running, semi-large image files tend to slow it down. What I am trying to say is that I am looking forward to having my new computer which will eat problems like this for breakfast, and do it without blinking.

I made some green chili stew using one of the packages which came from my mother's New Mexico care package. I noticed that the makers of the soup had a website and apparently I can order stuff from them on-line if I am so inclined.

[1] I am not really sure how to spell this. It is an Australian call when is useful when looking for someone in The Great Outdoors™. I may make a LiveJournal phone post to demo the call after I post this.
