I was happy today though, because Jeff hadn't broken anything or huffed too much. Actually come to think of it, I did spend a few minutes in his office and he did huff several times, along with making these long painful spasms as he attempted to think about what ever that magnificent brain of his is off thinking about. He looks as though he is attempting to swallow sulphuric acid while being eaten alive by killer ants when talking to people about the most mundane things (This is not an entirely unpleasant thing to imagine happening to him). My point was more that I took his irritating habits in stride.

So Adil and I are in Adil's office trying to figure out what Plan-B is going to be no that Plan-A for whatever it was that we were working on didn't work out. This is mostly what we do now. Tom strolls in asking what the hell is up with the Wizard hand off. I think I forgot to update everyone, but in my absence they decided to transfer Wizard over to my old technical team lead Ed. I feel bad that they gave the thing to him, because I have far greater loyalty to him than anyone in the timing department (my new department). I had worked with Ed for about four years as part of the GUI team. He is a smart guy, and among the best programmers that I have worked with at The Company, if not the best. Much of what I learned from Ed confuses people in the timing department when I attempt to employ it. But I am digressing...

So Adil and I are in Adil's office and Tom is making pointed statements about the hand off of Wizard, which is now in Ed's capable, but highly overburdened hands. When Tom asks who knows about Wizard, I think to myself, well that would be Art. Remember, the guy you fired? Instead of telling him that, I let Adil handle the question, because usually he is less hot headed and doesn't say stupid things like "Remember the guy you fired?" to his manager. Adil sort of points to me and say "well, you probably know more than me right?" This really isn't something that I wanted to hear, or anyone else to hear, for that matter.

I don't know anything about Wizard. I tenaciously avoided having anything to do with it while I was code owner of the thing, and given we didn't have any Sev 1s, I view it as a stellar accomplishment. So then I am sitting there thinking, if Adil knows less about Wizard than me, Adil must know less than nothing, which is also an accomplishment of sorts, if it were true, but it probably isn't.
