When I darkroom

Today I got the enlarger out and made some prints from the Europe trip. Details to note in this photograph (vaguely from left to right):
- My new Mac hiding under the enlarger to play old episodes of the Film Photography Podcast. Spending time in the darkroom waiting for images to develop onto the paper is mostly a relaxing experience, but some background sound is good. Music, or in this case a podcast dedicated to film does the trick.
- The actual enlarger is a Beseler Printmaker 67 VC was the cheapest enlarger that I could get that could print both 35mm and 6x6 medium format. (It will also print 6x7, but I don't have any cameras that shoot that format). (...). (yet). The other thing that I love about this enlarger (vs what I originally learned on) is that the variable contrast filters are built in and continuous, so to adjust the contrast you just have to turn a dial.
- I don't have a four bladed easel, even though all of my photo teachers have recommended. I mostly print strait on 5x7 or 8x10 paper, uncropped. So I think it is okay.
- Enlarger timer was obtained used from eBay sitting on the toilet. Works great.
- Developing trays dedicated to DEV, STOP, FIX and WASH. Also used from eBay for cheap.
- Sitting behind the DEV and STOP trays in the print dryer. Could use a fan to dry them faster on this dryer.
- Air filter recommended by a darkroom teacher reduces, but does not completely eliminate the fix smell
- Larger timer with glow-in-the-dark markings on the sink for timing time spent by prints in the trays. (1minute DEV, 10s STOP, 30s FIX and 2minute WASH).
- 2x dark lights, on in each corner.
- Blue grain focuser. Smaller than the one that I had at school, but adequate.
- Box of 5x7 Satin VC RC Ilford paper. For B&W, I shoot Ilford Film, process with Ilford chemicals, and print on Ilford paper. Where Kodak has been dropping products left right and center, Ilford still produces all of the same products they did 10 years ago when I was learning B&W.
The negs from the pool party comes back tomorrow as I fly off to New Mexico. Earm. So I will have to wait till I get back to make some prints. I am looking forward to making some prints to give to Alex. He will also want some scans for his website, but I am hoping that he will enjoy the prints as well.
